I was looking forward to visiting Chôm Chôm for a long time before we arrived in Hong Kong and it didn’t disappoint.
My girlfriend JT is Vietnamese and she’s from Cabramatta so there’s two things she definitely knows, good Viet food and where to score good smack.
Being Vietnamese she is super critical when we go to Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney so I deferred my judgement to her on Chôm Chôm and she was digging it. For the record I liked it too but I’m white so what would I know?
She was less enthused about the North Vietnamese flag they were rocking on the front page of their menu. Inferred support for a brutal dictatorship aside, the food was excellent.
I’m not going to bother writing too much about the dishes as they were all excellent and more to the point it was last year and I really don’t remember the specifics… whatevs.
The rice paper rolls were fresh and light and exactly what rice paper rolls should be.
Wok fried vegetables
The corn was dope!
The fruit platter was the perfect way to end the meal but the green chilli salt was HOT!

Grilled corn is so good isn’t it? Good to see that HK is flying the Vietnamese flag – albeit the Northern one
